HBO Max vs. HBO Go: What’s The Difference?

HBO has been one of the most popular channels for premium TV content for decades, and with the rise of streaming services, they have expanded their reach with two different services: HBO Max and HBO Go. While both offer access to the same HBO content, there are some significant differences between the two services that are worth considering.

HBO Go is a streaming service that is included with an HBO subscription through a participating cable, satellite, or streaming provider. It allows users to watch the same content that is available on the HBO channel or on-demand, including popular shows like Game of Thrones, Westworld, and The Sopranos. The service also offers access to HBO’s exclusive movies, documentaries, and stand-up specials.

HBO Max, on the other hand, is a standalone streaming service that offers everything that HBO Go has, plus a lot more. It includes HBO’s entire library of content, as well as a vast selection of movies, TV shows, and original content from other networks and studios like Warner Bros., DC, Cartoon Network, and Turner Classic Movies.

One of the significant differences between HBO Max and HBO Go is the price. HBO Go is only available if you have an HBO subscription, which typically costs around $15-$20 per month, depending on your provider. HBO Max, however, costs $14.99 per month, and there is no need to have an existing HBO subscription to sign up. Additionally, HBO Max offers a seven-day free trial for new subscribers, which is not available with HBO Go.

Another difference is the availability of both services. HBO Go is only available in the United States and some U.S. territories, while HBO Max is available in the U.S. and certain countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. With HBO Max, you can also access more features like personalized profiles, parental controls, and the ability to download content for offline viewing.

HBO Max also has exclusive content that you can’t access on HBO Go, such as popular original shows like Friends, The Big Bang Theory, and Game of Thrones. HBO Max also has a variety of new original content that is not available anywhere else, such as the series Love Life, Raised by Wolves, The Flight Attendant, and more.

In conclusion, HBO Go and HBO Max are similar in that they both provide access to HBO content, but HBO Max is a much more comprehensive service that offers more content, features, and exclusives. While both services are excellent options for HBO fans, HBO Max is the clear winner for those who want a more robust streaming experience.
