As a medical professional, you know the importance of having crucial medical information available in case of an emergency. Thanks to technology, it’s now easier than ever to have this information easily accessible. Here’s how to set up and access a Medical ID on iPhone and Android devices.

Setting up a Medical ID on iPhone

1. Open the Health app on your iPhone.
2. Tap on the Medical ID tab at the bottom of the screen.
3. Tap on ‘Create Medical ID.’
4. Fill in the required information. This includes name, date of birth, medical conditions, allergies, blood type, and emergency contacts.
5. Toggle the switch to enable ‘Show When Locked.’ This will allow your Medical ID to be accessed even when your phone is locked.
6. Finally, tap ‘Done’ and your Medical ID is now set up.

Accessing a Medical ID on iPhone

1. From the lock screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the control center.
2. Tap on the Medical ID icon (a white cross on a red background).
3. This will bring up your Medical ID, showing all the information you previously entered.

Setting up a Medical ID on Android

Unfortunately, Android devices do not have a built-in Medical ID feature but you can access a few third-party apps that provide the same function. Here are two of the popular ones:

1. Medical ID – Emergency SOS – This app is available on Google Play for free. To set it up, simply download the app and fill in all the necessary information. You can also upload a profile photo, and add medication and insurance information.

2. ICE: In Case of Emergency – This app is also available on Google Play for free. After downloading it, you can set up your profile with emergency contacts, medical conditions, allergies, and medication information. The app also allows for multiple profiles so you can set up profiles for all members of your family.

Accessing a Medical ID on Android

To access your Medical ID or emergency information through the third-party apps mentioned, follow these steps:

1. Wake your phone from sleep mode, and from the lock screen, locate the Emergency icon.
2. Tap the icon and enter your PIN or unlock pattern.
3. This will bring up ‘Emergency Information’ where you can access your Medical ID.

In conclusion, setting up a Medical ID is an easy and crucial step towards ensuring your safety in case of an emergency. Follow these simple steps to set up your Medical ID on iPhone or access an app on Android, and have peace of mind knowing your important medical information is always available.
