Windows 11, the latest operating system from Microsoft, comes with a redesigned and modernized file explorer. The file explorer is a crucial tool that allows you to manage and access files, folders, and drives on your computer. In this article, we’ll guide you on how to open the file explorer in Windows 11.

Method 1: Using the Start Menu

The most common way to open file explorer in Windows 11 is by using the start menu. The start menu provides quick access to frequently used apps, tools, and settings.

Step 1: Click on the Start button located in the bottom left corner of the screen.

Step 2: You should see the file explorer icon on the left side of the start menu. Click on the icon to open the file explorer.

Method 2: Using the Taskbar

Another easy way to open file explorer in Windows 11 is by using the taskbar. The taskbar is a strip located at the bottom of the screen that displays open apps and tools.

Step 1: Locate the taskbar on your screen. By default, it’s located at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Look for the file explorer icon on the taskbar. The icon should look like a small yellow folder.

Step 3: Click on the icon to open the file explorer.

Method 3: Using the Run Dialog Box

If you prefer using keyboard shortcuts or commands, opening file explorer through the Run dialog box is a quick and easy option.

Step 1: Press the Windows key + R on your keyboard.

Step 2: The Run dialog box will appear. Type “explorer.exe” (without the quotes) in the box and press enter.

Step 3: The file explorer will open on your screen.

Method 4: Using Windows Explorer Shortcut

Another shortcut to open the file explorer is by using the Windows explorer shortcut available on the desktop.

Step 1: Right-click on the desktop and select New.

Step 2: Click on Shortcut.

Step 3: Type “explorer.exe” (without the quotes) in the box and click on Next.

Step 4: Name the shortcut (e.g., File Explorer) and click on Finish.

Step 5: Double-click on the shortcut to open the file explorer.

Conclusion

File explorer is a crucial tool that allows you to manage and access files, folders, and drives on your computer. By using any of the methods mentioned above, you can quickly and easily access the file explorer in Windows 11. Whether you prefer using the start menu, taskbar, shortcuts, or commands, Windows 11 offers multiple ways to open the file explorer.
