How to Customize Spotify With Spicetify Themes
Spotify is a widely used music streaming service. Although the platform comes with a sleek interface, some users still prefer a personalized experience to match their preferences. Spotify customization involves tweaking the interface layout, colors, and fonts- all possible using Spicetify.
Spicetify adds custom themes and modifications to the Spotify desktop app. Although it predominantly applies to the desktop app, you can install it on other platforms such as Linux, Mac, and Windows.
Here’s how to customize your Spotify using Spicetify.
- Install Spicetify
First, download and install Spicetify. On the Spicetify GitHub page, you’ll find installation instructions for several operating platforms. For instance, if you’re on Windows, there’s an installer on the Spicetify website that downloads the app and copies necessary files to the Spotify directory.
- Pick a theme
Next, you need to select a theme, which determines the background, colors, fonts, and layout of the Spotify interface. You can get free Spotify themes on several platforms, including GitHub, Reddit, and a Spicetify website.
For example, the Spicetify website features several themes, including Fluent, Dark, OneDark, and more. Download the theme you prefer, copy it to a directory where you can quickly access it.
- Install the theme
Before you install the theme, create a backup of the Spotify folder in the AppData\Roaming directory. To install the theme, copy the theme files to the Spotify folder. Here’s the path for Windows: C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\Spicetify\Themes
- Using the theme
Open the Spotify app, then press Ctrl + Shift + R to refresh the app. The new theme will be visible.
- Customizing the theme
You can further tweak the themes to your preferences. For instance, you can change the fonts’ size, background color, and further adjust the layout. The Spicetify app comes with settings you can change to further customize the interface.
