What Is WSAPPX? Why Does It Cause High Disk and CPU Usage in Windows 10?

If you’re using Windows 10, you might have noticed that sometimes the system becomes slow and the hard disk or CPU usage spikes up. In many cases, the culprit behind this is the Windows Store app service, known as WSAPPX.
So, what exactly is WSAPPX? It is a process that runs as part of the Windows Store and is responsible for downloading, installing, and updating apps. It’s a vital part of the operating system and without it, the Windows Store wouldn’t function correctly.

However, sometimes WSAPPX can end up consuming too much memory and CPU usage, which can cause the system to become slow or unresponsive. The main reason why WSAPPX might cause high disk and CPU usage is due to its background processes.

When you install a new app from the Windows Store, WSAPPX starts to download and install it. During this process, it scans your computer for any other apps that might be related to the app you’re installing. This process, known as

AppX Deployment Service, can take up a lot of resources.
The AppX Deployment Service doesn’t stop when the new app is installed. It continues to run in the background to check for app updates and new installations, causing high disk and CPU usage. In some cases, it can even cause your computer to crash.

Another reason why WSAPPX might cause high usage is if you have a lot of apps installed. The more apps you have, the more resources WSAPPX will need to manage them, resulting in high disk and CPU usage.
So, what can you do to stop WSAPPX from causing high disk and CPU usage? Unfortunately, you can’t completely disable the service as it is a crucial part of the Windows Store. However, you can limit its usage by restricting its background processes.

To do this, you can follow the steps below:

1. Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialogue box.

2. Type ‘services.msc’ and click OK.

3. Scroll down to find ‘Windows Store Service (WSService)’ and double-click it.

4. Under the General tab, select ‘Manual’ for the ‘Startup type’ option.

5. Click OK and restart your computer.

By doing this, you’ll limit the background processes of WSAPPX, which will reduce its memory and CPU usage, improving the performance of your computer
