Spread the love

Love is a universal language that transcends cultural barriers. In Korean, the word “love” is written as 사랑 (sarang). This article provides a simple 3-step guide on how to write the word “love” in Korean.

Step 1: Begin with the first character – ‘ㅅ’

The first character of 사랑 (sarang) is ‘ㅅ’. This character is pronounced as “s” and described as a small roof shape. To write ‘ㅅ’, start with a diagonal stroke from left to right and draw another slightly curved diagonal stroke parallel to it on the right side. Finally, extend a short horizontal line to connect the two diagonal lines.

Step 2: Add the following two characters – ‘아’ and ‘ㄹ’

The next character is ‘아’ which is a combination of two simple characters, ‘ㅇ’ and ‘ㅏ’. First, draw a small circle (‘ㅇ’) and then add a vertical stroke on its right side. Complete it by extending a short horizontal line towards the right from the midpoint of the vertical line.

Now, move on to the third character ‘ㄹ’. It resembles an upside-down ‘s’ that connects to the previous characters. Begin with a horizontal line from left to right, then add a curved diagonal line down and towards the left. Finally, create another curved diagonal line upwards to form an inverted ‘s’ shape.

Step 3: Finish with the last two characters – ‘ㅏ’ and ‘ㅇ’

The fourth character is quite simple – just add another ‘ㅏ’ exactly like you did earlier. Draw another small circle (‘ㅇ’) underneath the previous one, followed by another vertical stroke connected to it on its right side.

Complete your writing by adding the final character ‘ㅇ’ below the ‘ㄹ’. This character is a simple circle shape, which is quite easy to draw. Just make sure the size of the circle is proportionate to the rest of the characters.

Now you have successfully written 사랑 (sarang), which means “love” in Korean! Practice writing this beautiful word and impress your friends, loved ones, or even a new language exchange partner. Embrace your journey learning Korean and spread love through this fascinating language.
