Blokus is a strategy board game that requires players to think carefully about their moves, making it perfect for those who enjoy games like Tetris, chess, or checkers. Get ready to challenge yourself, as we walk you through the 9 steps to mastering Blokus.

1. Gather the right materials: First and foremost, you’ll need a Blokus set, which consists of a square board with a grid of 20×20 squares and 84 game pieces in four different colors (21 pieces per color). The game is best suited for 2-4 players.

2. Understand the objective: The main goal in Blokus is to strategically place as many of your pieces onto the board as possible while blocking your opponents’ placements. The winner will be whoever has placed the most tiles onto the board.

3. Set up the board: Each player picks one color set of pieces and places the largest piece in their respective corner on the board. These corners are marked with white circles.

4. Familiarize yourself with the pieces: Each colored set contains 21 unique pieces ranging from one to five squares in size. It’s essential to anticipate which piece will be most beneficial during each turn.

5. Start playing: Players take turns placing their pieces on the board with some rules they must follow:

a. Whenever placing a piece down, it must touch at least one corner of another one of your pieces.

b. Your pieces may not have any side that is adjacent to another one of your own pieces.

6. Develop strategies:

a. Try planning out several turns ahead and identifying which combinations could block your opponents.

b. Keep an eye on opportunities to place your large pieces early on in the game before space becomes limited later.

7. Counting points: After all possible moves have been made or no player can make any legal move, the game ends. Count the number of squares on the unused pieces from each player. If a player has placed all of their pieces, they’ll receive a bonus of +20 points.

8. Determine the winner: Calculate each player’s final score by subtracting their unused square count from their bonus points (if any). The one with the highest score wins!

9. Continue practicing and honing your skills: The more you play Blokus, the better you’ll become at strategizing and outwitting your opponents. Keep practicing to master this addictive and challenging game.

And there you have it! Now you’re equipped with steps and strategies to play Blokus. Gather some friends or family members for an exciting game night filled with strategy and fun. Happy gaming!
