Resetting your router remotely can come in handy when you are not physically present to do so. It can help to troubleshoot your router if it’s not working and also help to access your router’s admin panel. In this article, we will walk you through the steps of resetting a router remotely.

Step 1: Determine the IP Address of Your Router

Before you reset your router remotely, you must determine the IP address of your router. You can obtain this information by accessing the router’s admin panel. Open the command prompt on your computer and type “ipconfig.” Press enter and it will display your IP address information. Look for the default gateway address and write it down.

Step 2: Access Your Router’s Admin Panel Remotely

To access your router’s admin panel remotely, you must use this IP address you obtained in step 1. Open your web browser and type the IP address in the search bar. Press enter, and it should take you to your router’s login page. Enter the login credentials, which may include a user name and password.

Step 3: Locate the Reset Button on Your Router

Once you have accessed your router’s admin panel, locate the reset button. This button may differ depending on your router’s model. It could be a physical button or a software-based button. The reset button may be located on the back, bottom, or side of your router. If you are having trouble finding it, refer to the user manual.

Step 4: Press and Hold the Router’s Reset Button

Once you have located the reset button, press and hold it for at least 10 seconds. Release the button after that. Your router will then reboot and restore the default settings. This process may take a few minutes, so give it some time.

Step 5: Reconfigure Your Router’s Settings

Once your router has reset, you will need to reconfigure its settings. Go back to your router’s admin panel, and enter your login credentials. Reconfigure your Wi-Fi network, password, and any other settings.

Conclusion

Resetting a router remotely is a quick and convenient way to troubleshoot the device. It’s easy to do, and you don’t need to be physically present to do it. Remember always to keep a record of your router’s IP address, login credentials, and locate the router’s reset button before resetting it remotely. Now you can reset your router remotely and save yourself time and effort.
