Chromebooks are a popular choice for students and professionals alike due to their lightweight design, long battery life, and easy-to-use interface. However, if you’re looking to sell or give away your Chromebook, you may need to change the owner to ensure that your personal information is protected. In this article, we’ll guide you through the steps on how to change the owner on a Chromebook.

Step 1: Reset Your Chromebook

Before you change the owner of your Chromebook, we recommend resetting it to its factory settings. This will erase all data and settings on the device, ensuring that the new owner starts with a fresh slate. To reset your Chromebook, follow these steps:

– Click on the status area in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

– Click on the Settings icon (gear) and scroll down to the bottom of the page.

– Click on Advanced and then click on Reset settings.

– Click on the Reset button and follow the prompts to reset your Chromebook.

Step 2: Set Up Your Chromebook

Once your Chromebook has reset, you’ll need to set it up again. Follow the prompts on the screen to connect to the internet, sign in with your Google account, and complete the initial setup process. If you’re giving your Chromebook to someone else, stop here and let the new owner sign in with their own Google account.

Step 3: Remove Your Google Account

If you’re selling or giving away your Chromebook, you’ll need to remove your Google account to ensure that the new owner can’t access your data. To remove your Google account, follow these steps:

– Click on the status area in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

– Click on the Settings icon (gear) and then click on the People section.

– Click on the Manage other people option.

– Click on your name and then click on Remove this person.

– Follow the prompts to remove your Google account from the Chromebook.

Step 4: Create a New Account (Optional)

If you’re keeping your Chromebook but want to change the owner, you can create a new Google account and make it the primary owner of the device. To do this, follow these steps:

– Click on the status area in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.

– Click on the Settings icon (gear) and then click on the People section.

– Click on Add person.

– Follow the prompts to create a new Google account and make it the primary owner of the

Chromebook.

In conclusion, changing the owner on a Chromebook is a simple process that involves resetting the device, setting it up again, removing your Google account (if applicable), and creating a new account (if necessary). Following these steps will ensure that your personal information is protected and that the new owner can enjoy a fresh start with their new Chromebook.
