What to Do if Android Auto Keeps Disconnecting

Android Auto is a great feature for people who like to use their phones while driving. By connecting it to their car’s infotainment system, they can control many of their phone’s functions, such as playing music or using GPS, without having to take their eyes off the road. However, Android Auto can sometimes be frustrating when it keeps disconnecting from the car’s system. This article will give you some solutions to fix the issue.

1. Check the USB Cable

The first thing to do is to check the USB cable connecting your phone to the car’s infotainment system. A faulty USB cable can cause connectivity problems. Make sure the cable you are using is the one provided by the manufacturer or a reputable brand. Also, check if the cable is securely plugged into both the phone and the car’s USB port.

2. Enable USB Debugging

If you have enabled developer options on your phone, you can enable USB debugging to help with the connectivity problems. To do this, go to Settings > System > Developer Options and toggle on the USB debugging switch. Once done, try connecting your phone to your car’s infotainment system again.

3. Check for Android Auto Compatibility

Not all cars support Android Auto. Check with your car manufacturer to confirm that your car’s infotainment system is compatible with Android Auto. If it is not compatible, you can try using an aftermarket unit that supports Android Auto.

4. Restart Your Phone and Car

Another solution to fix the problem is to restart both your phone and car. Turn off your phone, unplug it from the USB cable, and turn off your car’s infotainment system. Then, turn on your phone and restart your car’s infotainment system. Reconnect your phone to your car’s system and check if the problem is solved.

5. Clear Cache and Data of Android Auto App

If the above solutions do not work, try clearing the cache and data of the Android Auto app on your phone. To do this, go to Settings > Apps & notifications > Android Auto > Storage & cache > Clear storage and Clear cache. After clearing the cache and data, reconnect your phone to your car’s infotainment system.
