Breaking taboos and pushing societal boundaries is no easy feat, especially for women who have traditionally been held to strict standards and expectations. However, there are those fearless females who have dared to challenge the status quo and inspire others with their courage and outspokenness. These women not only make us want to stand up and take note but also make us wish we could be their best friends. Here are a few such trailblazers:

1. Malala Yousafzai – The youngest Nobel Prize laureate, Malala challenged the Taliban’s prohibition against girls’ education in Pakistan. After surviving a gunshot wound to her head, she continued her advocacy for female education globally. Her strength, intelligence, and compassion make her a role model.

2. Laverne Cox – An Emmy-nominated actress and transgender advocate, Laverne uses her platform to shed light on the rights of transgender individuals. She is an icon in the LGBTQ+ community for her grace, eloquence, and dedication to activism.

3. Greta Thunberg – A young environmental activist that has become the face of the youth movement against climate change, Greta speaks boldly to world leaders demanding action for a sustainable future. Her forthrightness and commitment to the cause make her an inspirational figure.

4. Rihanna – Beyond being a pop icon, Rihanna has broken barriers in the beauty industry with her inclusive Fenty Beauty line that caters to a wide range of skin tones. She is also known for her philanthropic work and entrepreneurial spirit.

5. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie – A renowned writer whose works address issues of gender bias and racial identity, Chimamanda’s voice is powerful in advocating for equality and inclusion in literature and beyond.

6. Emma Watson – As a UN Women Goodwill ambassador and a promoter of the HeForShe campaign advocating for gender equality, Emma Watson has used her fame from Harry Potter to tackle gender discrimination worldwide.

7. Tarana Burke – The founder of the MeToo movement has sparked global conversations about sexual abuse and harassment, urging society to believe survivors’ stories and seek justice.

These women are more than just successful in their respective fields – they’re vanguards leading the way for social change. Standing with them not only feels like standing on the right side of history but having them as best friends would mean being around individuals whose strength and wisdom could inevitably push us all to be better versions of ourselves.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
