When it comes to choosing a tablet, the two most popular options are undoubtedly the Microsoft Surface Go 2 and the Apple iPad. Both devices offer a range of features and benefits, but there are some key differences that may make one more suitable for your needs than the other. In this article, we’ll take a look at the key differences between the Surface Go 2 and the iPad, so you can make an informed decision when it comes to choosing your next tablet.

Design and Display

The Surface Go 2 features a 10.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1280, while the iPad has a slightly larger 10.2-inch display with a resolution of 2160 x 1620. Both devices are thin and light, with the Surface Go 2 weighing in at just 1.2 pounds and the iPad at 1.07 pounds.

In terms of design, the Surface Go 2 has a kickstand at the back that allows you to adjust the angle of the tablet, while the iPad has a more traditional design with no kickstand. The Surface Go 2 also features a USB-C port, while the iPad uses Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector.

Performance

The Surface Go 2 runs on an Intel Pentium Gold processor, which offers solid performance for everyday tasks such as web browsing, email, and streaming video. The iPad, on the other hand, uses Apple’s A12 Bionic chip, which is more powerful and better suited for demanding tasks such as gaming and video editing.

Operating System

Perhaps the biggest difference between the Surface Go 2 and the iPad is the operating system. The Surface Go 2 runs on Windows 10, which means you can run any Windows software you need, including desktop applications such as Microsoft Office. The iPad, on the other hand, runs on iOS, which is a mobile operating system designed specifically for the iPad.

While iOS offers a simple and intuitive user interface, it may not be suitable for everyone’s needs, especially if you need to run specific software that is only available on Windows.

Price

Finally, let’s take a look at the price. The Surface Go 2 starts at $399, while the iPad starts at $329. However, it’s worth noting that the Surface Go 2 doesn’t come with a keyboard or a stylus, so you’ll need to factor in the cost of these accessories if you want to use the tablet to its full potential. The iPad, on the other hand, supports the Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard, both of which are sold separately.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Surface Go 2 and the iPad are both excellent tablets that offer a range of features and benefits. The Surface Go 2 is better suited for those who need to run Windows software, while the iPad is ideal for those who want a simple, intuitive user interface and access to the Apple ecosystem. Ultimately, the choice between the two will come down to your specific needs and preferences.
