Nearby Share is a feature that allows Android users to share files, photos, videos, and more with nearby devices instantly. This feature was introduced in Android 10 and has since been updated to include several new features. In this article, we’ll take you through the steps to set up and use Nearby Share on Android.

Step 1: Check for Updates

Before you start using Nearby Share, make sure that your phone is running the latest version of Android. To check for updates, go to Settings > System > System update.

Step 2: Turn on Nearby Share

Open the Quick Settings panel by swiping down twice from the top of your screen. Look for a square icon with a Wi-Fi signal and an arrow pointing in a direction. If you don’t see it, tap on the pencil icon to customize your Quick Settings and add Nearby Share. Once added, tap the Nearby Share icon to toggle it on.

Step 3: Choose Your Preferences

Once you turn on Nearby Share, you’ll see a pop-up prompting you to select your preferred settings. You can choose to share your device with all of your contacts, or just with specific individuals.

Step 4: Share Files

To share files using Nearby Share, open the file you want to share and tap on the share icon. From there, you’ll see an option for “Nearby Share.” Tap on it, and your device will start searching for nearby devices.

Step 5: Accept the Transfer

On the other device, you’ll see a notification that a file has been shared with you via Nearby Share. Tap on the notification to accept the transfer.

Step 6: Receive Files

If someone else is sharing a file with you, you’ll receive a notification on your device. Tap on the notification to accept the transfer. You can also choose to decline the transfer if you wish.

Step 7: Manage Your Settings

You can change the settings for Nearby Share by going to Settings > Google > Device connections > Nearby Share. From there, you can change your visibility, change your device name, and manage your content preferences.

In Conclusion

Nearby Share is a convenient feature that allows you to share files instantly with nearby devices. By following these steps, you’ll be able to easily set up and use the feature on your Android device.
