How to Set up and Use Facebook Trusted Contacts

Facebook has become an integral part of our daily lives, and it’s no surprise that Facebook’s security features are essential to keep our personal information safe. One such feature is the Trusted Contacts feature, which allows you to choose up to five friends to help you regain access to your account if you ever get locked out.

How to Set up Trusted Contacts

To set up Trusted Contacts on Facebook, follow these steps:

  1. 1. Log in to your Facebook account and click on the down arrow in the top right corner of the screen.
  2. 2. Click onSettings & Privacyand thenSettings.
  3. 3. Click onSecurity and Loginand scroll down to theSetting Up Extra Securitysection.
  4. 4. Click onChoose 3 to 5 friends to contact if you get locked out.
  5. 5. Choose your trusted contacts by typing their names into the search bar and clicking on their profiles. You can choose up to five friends.
  6. 6. Click onConfirm.

Once you’ve set up your Trusted Contacts, they will receive a notification letting them know they’ve been chosen. They will also receive instructions on how to help you regain access to your account if needed.

How to Use Trusted Contacts

If you ever get locked out of your Facebook account, you can use your Trusted Contacts to help you regain access. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. 1. Click onForgot Password?on the Facebook login page.
  2. 2. Enter your email address or phone number associated with your account and click onSearch.
  3. 3. Click onNo longer have access to these?.
  4. 4. Enter your new email address or phone number and click onContinue.
  5. 5. Facebook will prompt you to confirm your identity using your Trusted Contacts.
  6. 6. Facebook will send a unique link to each of your Trusted Contacts, which they will need to open and follow the instructions to help you regain access to your account.
