Losing access to your email account can be a frustrating experience, especially when it is an email account like Windows Live Hotmail that you use frequently for communication. One of the most common reasons for losing access to Hotmail is forgetting your password. Luckily, resetting your lost Hotmail password is a simple process that can be done in a few easy steps.

Step 1: Go to the Microsoft Account Login Page

The first step to reset your lost Hotmail password is to visit the Microsoft Account login page. You can do this by typing the following URL into your web browser: https://login.live.com/. This will take you to the Hotmail sign-in page.

Step 2: Click “Can’t Access Your Account?”

Once you are at the Hotmail sign-in page, click on the “Can’t access your account?” link located just below the login box. This will take you to a new page where you can begin the process of resetting your password.

Step 3: Select “I Forgot My Password”

On the next page, select the “I Forgot My Password” option and hit the “Next” button. This will take you to the password reset page.

Step 4: Enter your Hotmail email address

In the password reset page, enter your Hotmail email address and the characters displayed on the screen. Click the “Next” button to proceed.

Step 5: Verify Your Identity

You will then be prompted to verify your identity. You can choose to receive a security code by text message, email or phone call. Select the option that best suits you and follow the instructions to receive and enter the security code.

Step 6: Choose a New Password

Once you have verified your identity, you will be directed to the password reset page. Here, you can enter a new password that meets Microsoft’s password requirements. Your new password should be at least eight characters long and include a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

Step 7: Sign in with your new password

After creating a new password, you will be redirected to the Hotmail sign-in page. Use your new password to sign in to your Hotmail account.

In conclusion, resetting a lost Hotmail password is a simple process that can be done in a few easy steps. By following the steps outlined above, you can regain access to your account and continue communicating with your contacts through your Hotmail email account.
