Have you ever experienced trying to print a file as PDF but finding out that the Print to PDF feature is missing in your Windows 11 or 10 operating system? If so, you have come to the right place. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to solve this problem and get the missing Print to PDF feature back in your system.

Step 1: Check if Windows PDF feature is turned on

Firstly, you have to make sure that the Windows PDF feature is turned on. If it’s turned off, this could be the reason why the Print to PDF feature is not available in your system. To check this, follow these steps:

1. Click the “Start” button and go to “Settings.”

2. Select “Apps” and then “Apps & features.”

3. Scroll down until you see “Microsoft Print to PDF” in the list of apps.

4. Click on “Microsoft Print to PDF” and select “Advanced options.”

5. Make sure the “Reset” button is greyed out. If it is not, select it and reset the app to its default settings.

6. Scroll down and check if the “PDF” feature is turned on.

Step 2: Repair Print to PDF Feature

If the PDF feature is turned on and still the Print to PDF feature is missing, then you need to repair this feature. Follow the steps below:

1. Press “Windows + R” key to open the Run command window.

2. Type “optionalfeatures” and click “OK.”

3. The “Windows Features” window will appear, scroll down and look for “Microsoft Print to PDF.”

4. Tick the checkbox next to it and click the “OK” button.

5. After that, Windows will start the installation process.

6. Once the installation process is complete, restart the computer.

Step 3: Set Microsoft Print to PDF as Default Printer

If the Print to PDF feature is still not appearing, you may need to set the Microsoft Print to PDF as your default printer. Here’s how:

1. Go to “Settings” and select “Devices.”

2. Click “Printers & scanners.”

3. Scroll down and click “Add a printer or scanner.”

4. Select “Microsoft Print to PDF” and click “Add device.”

5. After, click on “Microsoft Print to PDF” and then click on “Manage.”

6. Finally, set “Microsoft Print to PDF” as the default printer.
