Phishing emails are one of the most common methods used by cybercriminals to steal personal information. They often come disguised as legitimate emails, tricking the recipient into clicking on a link or downloading an attachment that could potentially infect their system with malware or steal their login credentials. To protect yourself from such attacks, it’s essential to enable phishing email protection in Outlook. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1:

Open Outlook and click on the “File” tab at the top left corner of the screen.

Step 2:

Click on “Options” from the left-hand side menu and choose “Trust Center.”

Step 3:

Click on the “Trust Center Settings” button.

Step 4:

Select “Email Security” from the left-hand side menu.

Step 5:

Check the box next to “Add digital signature to outgoing messages” if you wish to include a digital signature in your emails.

Step 6:

Check the box next to “Encrypt contents and attachments for outgoing messages” if you want to encrypt the contents of your emails.

Step 7:

Check the box next to “Add digital signature to received messages” if you want to verify the authenticity of emails you receive.

Step 8:

Check the box next to “Encrypt contents and attachments for received messages” if you want to receive encrypted emails.

Step 9:

Check the box next to “Remove text formatting on paste” to remove any malicious code that may be hidden within formatted text.

Step 10:

Check the box next to “Warn me about suspicious domain names in email addresses” to receive a warning if the sender’s email address is suspicious.

Step 11:

Check the box next to “Warn me about suspicious domain names in URLs” to receive a warning if a link within an email is suspicious.

Step 12:

Click on the “Settings” button next to “Phishing Protection.”

Step 13:

Check the box next to “Enable phishing protection” and select the level of protection you want – low, medium, or high.

Step 14:

Click “OK” to save your changes.

By following these steps, you will be able to enable phishing email protection in Outlook and reduce the risk of falling victim to a phishing attack. Remember to remain vigilant and never click on suspicious links or download attachments from unknown senders, even if they seem legitimate. Stay safe!
