Great Education Leaders are Good Listeners

Spread the love

It would help if you first listen to other people to provide your followers with the feedback and guidance they require to be successful. The majority of individuals wait for their turn to speak; exceptional educators, on the other hand, talk afterward and listen first. They utilize this time to completely absorb what the other person is saying and monitor their facial cues and body language. When it is their turn to speak, they will have most of the necessary knowledge to respond appropriately.

Listening 101

Listening entails more than simply remaining silent; it also necessitates asking the appropriate questions. After hearing someone talk, you should always ask questions to clarify any misunderstanding and ensure that you have all the information. This, together with the knowledge you gained through listening to and analyzing body language, will provide you with all the information you require to answer intelligently and thoughtfully.

Being a good listener means you are dependable, honest, and willing to help others succeed. It will also assist you in making the wisest decision possible while also allowing you to appear tough, impartial, and consistent. As a result, never stop practicing your listening abilities; there is always a potential for development.

A Little Homework

If you are not a patient listener, make a deliberate commitment in the coming weeks to let the individuals you are talking with speak first before responding. Do it as though your life is on the line. After two weeks, assess how your interactions and connections with others have begun to shift. It would help if you observed that you become more aware of other people’s experiences and perspectives. This allows you to respond with greater compassion and subtlety.

It also allows you to understand who they are on a deeper level, which is essential for building lasting professional relationships. Others will notice how attentive you are and regard you as a generous leader who strives to learn before making assumptions. Overall, everyone benefits. Keep up the excellent job.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
