ExpressVPN Releases Apple TV App: Our Hands-On Impressions

For a long time, Apple TV users have had to rely on workaround methods to protect their streaming activities with a VPN service. That era has come to an end as ExpressVPN, one of the leading VPN service providers, has launched a dedicated app for Apple TV.

From the initial launch, it’s apparent that ExpressVPN has put considerable effort into creating an app that’s not just functional but also aligns seamlessly with the easy-to-navigate interface of Apple TV. Setting up the VPN app is straightforward. After installation, a simple sign-in process is in place, after which users can connect to their desired server location from the comfort of their sofa.

One feature that stands out immediately upon use is the Smart Location option. This feature suggests the optimal server location to ensure the best possible speed and experience for your streaming or browsing needs. In hands-on testing, switching between different servers was impressively quick, with no noticeable lag in connection times.

Picture quality and streaming performance while using the ExpressVPN app were as good as without any VPN service on. This can be attributed to ExpressVPN’s robust network of high-speed servers, which ensure that users don’t have to compromise on speed for privacy and security.

Users who enjoy international content will appreciate how effortlessly they can now hop between different country’s services to access geo-restricted content on their Apple TV. Shows and movies that were once unavailable due to regional restrictions open up with a couple of clicks.

Moreover, ExpressVPN’s commitment to user privacy means that all this convenience does not come at the cost of security. The same trusted encryption and no-logs policy that users have come to expect from their mobile and desktop applications are now extended to their television sets.

While there may be concerns about whether using such an app could potentially slow down your internet connection, during extensive testing sessions, there was little evidence of any significant speed drops. Even in instances where minor slowdowns were noted, the trade-off for enhanced privacy felt worthwhile.

The ExpressVPN app for Apple TV also addresses common frustrations such as keeping connections alive during idle periods or re-establishing connections quickly if your Wi-Fi drops momentarily. The auto-reconnect feature works efficiently in the background ensuring consistent protection.

To sum it up, ExpressVPN’s new offering for Apple TV impressively combines ease of use with powerful VPN performance. It’s a well-thought-out application that doesn’t just add essential privacy features but enhances user experience by providing reliable access to global content and maintaining high-quality streaming services. This move by ExpressVPN could very well set a precedent for other VPN providers to follow suit and may redefine what we expect from streaming privacy tools moving forward.
