JPG or JPEG is one of the most common image file formats used by many people nowadays. However, some Windows 10 users have been experiencing problems while trying to view or open their JPG files. The issue can be quite frustrating, especially if you have important images that you cannot access. Luckily, there are solutions to fix this problem. In this article, we will discuss the possible causes of JPG files not opening in Windows 10 and how to fix them.

Possible Causes of the Problem

There are several reasons why you may be unable to open JPG files in Windows 10. Here are some of the most common causes:

1. Corrupted JPG Files: If your JPG files are damaged or corrupted by malware or any other factor, you may be unable to open them.

2. Incorrect File Association: If the file association for JPG files is incorrect or missing, Windows may not be able to recognize the file format.

3. Outdated or Faulty Graphics Drivers: If your graphics drivers are outdated or faulty, you may not be able to open JPG files or any other graphics-intensive applications.

4. Windows Updates: Sometimes, Windows updates may cause conflicts with your system, leading to issues with file formats such as JPG.

How to Fix the Problem

Now that we know the possible causes of the problem let’s discuss how to fix it.

1. Repair or Restore Corrupted JPG Files: If your JPG files are corrupted, you can try to repair or restore them using a file repair tool such as EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard. This software can help you recover lost, deleted, and corrupted files, including JPG images. You can also try using other file repair tools such as Stellar Phoenix JPEG Repair or Yodot Photo Repair, which are also effective.

2. Check and Re-associate JPG Files: If the file association for JPG files is incorrect or missing, you can easily fix it. Right-click on a JPG file and select “Open With” and then “Choose another app.” Select the correct program for opening JPG files and make sure to check the box “Always use this app to open .jpg files.”

3. Update Graphics Drivers: If your graphics drivers are outdated or faulty, you may want to update them. Go to the Device Manager, locate your graphics card, right-click it, and choose “Update Driver.” Select “Search Automatically for updated driver software” and follow the on-screen instructions.

4. Uninstall Windows Updates: If the problem started after installing Windows updates, you may want to uninstall them. Go to Settings, select “Update and Security,” then “Windows Update,” and finally, “View update history.” Click on “Uninstall updates” and select the update you want to remove.
