Google Voice is a popular service that allows users to make calls, send texts, and manage voicemails using their existing phone numbers. However, there are many reasons why someone might want to look for a Google Voice alternative. Perhaps they’ve had trouble with the service in the past, or maybe they just want to explore other options. Whatever the reason, there are plenty of alternatives to Google Voice that offer similar functionality and even some unique features. Here are some of the best Google Voice alternatives on the market.

  1. Sideline

Sideline positions itself as a second phone number for your smartphone. It offers unlimited talk and text, group messaging, and voicemail. Sideline has a sleek interface that is designed to resemble a traditional phone app. Additionally, it offers business-oriented features such as the ability to auto-respond to missed calls and to assign custom ringtones to different contacts. The app is free to download, but there are premium features available for a subscription fee.

  1. Line2

Like Sideline, Line2 offers a second phone line for your smartphone. It offers unlimited calling and texting, as well as voicemail and call forwarding. Line2 also offers conference calling with up to 10 participants, which can be useful for business meetings or group calls. The app is free to download, but there are subscription plans available for additional features such as international calling and auto-attendant.

  1. Grasshopper

Grasshopper is a virtual phone system designed for small businesses and entrepreneurs. It offers a toll-free or local phone number, as well as features such as call routing, automated responses, and voicemail transcription. Grasshopper also offers mobile and desktop apps for easy access to your phone system on the go. The pricing for Grasshopper ranges from $29 to $89 per month depending on the number of phone numbers and features you need.

  1. TextNow

TextNow offers free phone service using a dedicated app. The app assigns you a new phone number that you can use to make calls and send texts. TextNow offers unlimited talk and text to users in the U.S. and Canada, as well as international calling for a fee. Additionally, TextNow offers a range of user-friendly features such as call forwarding, call screening, and personalized voicemail greetings.

  1. Talkatone

Talkatone is another app that allows you to make free calls and send texts. Like TextNow, it assigns you a dedicated phone number to use. Talkatone offers unlimited calling and texting to users in the U.S. and Canada. Additionally, it offers video calling and group messaging. Talkatone also offers a premium version that includes additional features such as ad-free usage and call forwarding.
