Are you a professional development coordinator who is looking for a way to deliver training to your staff using online or blended learning, but you don’t have a budget? Why don’t you use Google Classroom? In this article, we discuss ways in which professional development coordinators and administrators can use Classroom to deliver training to their faculty and staff.

  1. Best Practices Classroom – Create a classroom for all teachers and administrators to share best practices. As part of professional development, have teachers upload classroom videos depicting best practices to share with colleagues who can leave comments or questions.
  2. Pre- and Post- Observation Reflection Forms – Create pre- and post-observation reflection forms for teachers. These can be uploaded as an assignment in Classroom and used to help teachers improve professional practice.
  3. Professional Development – Create a Classroom solely for professional development or training employees. Provide certificates of completion once a teacher has completed a module.
  4. Professional Learning Communities – Create a classroom for professional learning communities.
  5. Register for Professional Development – Have faculty register for professional development using Google Forms in a professional development Classroom.
  6. New Teacher Training – Use Classroom to train new teachers and provide a forum where they can pose questions for mentors.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
