Exploratory Testing is one of the widely used testing methodologies, which is gaining popularity these days. It is a type of testing where testers use their intuition, experience, and creativity to design and execute test cases. The approach is unscripted and focuses on exploration, discovery, and learning.

In Exploratory Testing, the tester doesn’t rely on pre-defined test cases, but they explore the application under test to understand its features, behavior, and functionality. The tester uses their knowledge of the product and testing skills to identify defects, potential risks, and opportunities for optimization.

Exploratory Testing is efficient and helps the testing team to identify defects that would go unnoticed in other testing methodologies. The approach allows the testers to exercise their creativity and come up with test scenarios that are not limited by a predetermined set of steps.

Exploratory Testing is effective in finding defects that can’t be found through manual or automated testing. For instance, it can identify issues related to usability, accessibility, or security that may not be detected through traditional testing. Additionally, Exploratory Testing can help testers identify unusual combinations of inputs and verify the functionality of the application.

Exploratory Testing is not just about finding defects; it is also about learning and gaining knowledge about the application under test. Testers who use this approach can share their findings with the developers and give them valuable feedback. This leads to better software development, improved quality, and user satisfaction.

Some of the key benefits of Exploratory Testing are:

– It is flexible and adaptable

– It allows testers to use their creativity and intuition

– It detects defects that other testing methodologies may miss

– It helps to identify risks and issues early in the development lifecycle

In conclusion, Exploratory Testing is a powerful approach to software testing that can help testers find defects, identify risks, and learn more about the application under test. It is a flexible and adaptable methodology that can be used in any software development project to improve the quality of the product. With Exploratory Testing, testers can uncover defects that are undetectable through traditional testing methodologies, leading to better software development and higher user satisfaction.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
