What Is Apple’s Shared with You Feature?
Apple’s Shared with You feature allows you to receive shared content from your friends and family members directly within the respective Apple apps. For instance, if someone shares an article with you via the Messages app, you’ll see the same article within the Apple News app under the Shared with You section.
Similarly, if someone shares photos with you, you’ll see a special Shared with You album in your Photos app. The Shared with You feature works across all Apple devices and requires both the sender and the recipient to have an Apple ID and be signed in to iCloud.
How to Use Apple’s Shared with You Feature
Using Apple’s Shared with You feature is straightforward. Here’s how to get started:
- Update to iOS 15 or later: To use the Shared with You feature, you must have an iOS device running on iOS 15 or later. You can check your device’s current version by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
- Sign in to iCloud: Ensure that you and the person you want to share content with have an Apple ID and are signed in to iCloud.
- Share content: To share content such as photos, links, and podcasts with someone, open the app you want to share content from and tap the Share icon. Then select the contact or group you want to share the content with.
- Receive shared content: To receive shared content, open the respective app, and look for the Shared with You section. All shared content will appear here.
- Save, like or reply: Once you receive shared content, you can like, reply, or save it for later.
