What Does FYP Mean on TikTok?

FYP, which stands for “For You Page,” is a term commonly used on the social media platform TikTok. It refers to the page on TikTok where users can discover new content and creators, tailored to their individual interests.
The FYP is the first page you see when you open the TikTok app. It’s curated based on the videos you’ve interacted with, including likes, comments, shares, and watch time. The algorithm takes all of this data into account to deliver videos that it thinks you’ll enjoy.

TikTok’s FYP is a powerful tool for new and emerging creators. When a video gains traction and starts to get engagement, it can quickly be pushed onto more users’ FYPs. If the video continues to perform well, it could even go viral.

Because the FYP plays such a crucial role in a TikTok creator’s success, the term “FYP” has become a cultural phenomenon on the app. “FYP” is typically used as a hashtag in the caption of a video to improve its chances of being featured on users’ For You Pages.

For example, a user might post a dance video and include the caption “#fyp” to increase its visibility. This signals to the algorithm that the creator wants the video to be promoted on the For You Page.
In addition to using the FYP hashtag, some creators may also ask their followers to interact with the video in specific ways (such as liking or commenting) to boost engagement and improve the video’s chances of appearing on the FYP.
