How to Stop Legitimate Emails From Getting Marked as Spam

Spam emails are a huge problem for internet users. But not all emails marked as spam are actually spam. Sometimes legitimate emails can end up in the spam folder, and this can be frustrating, especially for businesses and organizations. In this article, we will discuss ways to stop legitimate emails from getting marked as spam.

1. Use a recognizable “From” name and email address:

The recipient should be able to easily recognize who the email is from. Using a recognizable From name and email address can reduce the chances of your email being marked as spam.

2. Avoid using spam trigger words:

Certain words and phrases can trigger spam filters. Avoid using words like “guaranteed,” “cheap,” and “free” in your subject and body text. Also, avoid using excessive punctuation, all caps, and too many exclamation marks.

3. Ask subscribers to add your email address to their contacts:

Encourage your subscribers to add your email address to their contacts list. This signals to their email provider that they want to receive your emails and can lessen the chances of them being marked as spam.

4. Use a reputable email service provider:

Your email service provider can affect the deliverability of your emails. It’s important to use a reputable email service provider that has strong deliverability rates and follows email best practices.

5. Set up authentication:

Authentication proves to email providers that your email is legitimate. Setting up authentication like DKIM, SPF, and DMARC can help ensure your emails are delivered to the inbox.

6. Send personalized emails:

Personalized emails have been shown to increase engagement and decrease spam complaints. Personalize your emails by including the recipient’s name and using dynamic content, such as product recommendations based on their past purchases.

7. Provide a clear way to unsubscribe:

Make it easy for subscribers to unsubscribe from your emails. If someone wants to unsubscribe, and they can’t find a way to do so, they may mark your email as spam.

8. Monitor your email performance:

Keep an eye on your email performance metrics, such as open and click-through rates. This can help you identify any issues and address them before they become a problem.

In conclusion, stopping legitimate emails from getting marked as spam requires a multi-pronged approach. Follow these tips to increase the chances of your emails reaching your subscribers’ inboxes.
