As the world becomes more digital, we are exposed to a vast range of websites and links on a daily basis. Whether it’s a potential phishing email or a link from a friend, it can be hard to determine if a website or link is safe to click on. Luckily, there are a variety of quick and easy-to-use sites that let you check if a link is safe. Here are some of the best ones:

VirusTotal: This site allows you to scan a URL or file for viruses and malware. It’s a free service that uses over 70 different antivirus scanners and URL/domain blacklisting services to give you a comprehensive report on the safety of a link. VirusTotal is considered one of the best options available for online link safety checking.

Google Transparency Report: Google’s Transparency Report is a great tool that can be used to check the safety and credibility of URLs. It collects and analyzes data from Google’s Safe Browsing technology, which scans web pages and URLs for any malicious activity. The site also provides details on the history of the website, including information about any reported phishing or malware incidents.

URLVoid: URLVoid is a free online service that scans URLs for malicious content. It uses various antivirus scanners and blacklist engines and gives you a report on the safety of the link. Additionally, it provides you with a reputation score based on previous scans, which can give you an added sense of trust when using this tool.

PhishTank: PhishTank is a crowdsourced platform that aims to identify and report phishing scams. It allows users to submit suspicious URLs and vote on whether they believe they are legitimate or not. The site then verifies the validity of the submissions, making it an excellent resource for individuals seeking to confirm the authenticity of web content.

ScanURL: ScanURL is another site that offers free URL scanning services. It provides information from multiple databases, including Google Safe Browsing and Norton Safe Web, to determine whether a particular link is safe. Additionally, it offers a browsing mode that allows users to surf the web while keeping their data and credentials safe.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
