Are you tired of the same old sub sandwiches? The classic combination of meats, cheeses, and toppings on a hoagie roll is good, but it can get repetitive after a while. Fortunately, there’s a fresh and exciting alternative that you should consider trying: the pickle sub sandwich! It might sound unorthodox at first, but rest assured, this scrumptious sub is perfect for tickling your taste buds. So let’s dive right into the steps on how to make the best pickle sub sandwich.

Ingredients:

– 1 large dill pickle (preferably around 10-12 inches long and not too thick)

– 4 oz sliced deli turkey

– 4 oz sliced deli ham

– 4 oz sliced salami

– 3 slices provolone cheese

– 3 slices cheddar cheese

– Shredded lettuce or baby spinach

– Thinly sliced red onion

– Thinly sliced tomato

– Sliced black olives (optional)

– Sub sauce or Italian dressing for drizzling

Instructions:

1. Prepare the pickle bun: Begin by cutting off both ends of the pickle so that it lays flat on your work surface. Then slice it lengthwise down the middle to create two equal halves. Be careful not to cut all the way through; leave enough room to keep it connected at one side. With a spoon or melon baller, start scooping out both halves of the pickle insides to create space for your sandwich fillings. Set aside.

2. Assemble the meat and cheese layers: Place the sliced turkey on one half of the hollowed-out pickle with an even layer that covers its entire length. Follow with a layer of ham and then salami, ensuring that each meat is full-length and completely covers its preceding layer. Next, add provolone cheese and cheddar cheese on top of the salami layer.

3. Fill with vegetables: Layer shredded lettuce or baby spinach over the cheeses, leaving some space for the addition of tomato and onion slices. If you choose to include black olives, add them in at this point as well.

4. Drizzle with sub sauce or Italian dressing: A key component of a tasty sub sandwich is the sauce; therefore, drizzle your preferred sub sauce or Italian dressing evenly over the entire assembly. Be mindful not to overdue it to prevent a soggy sandwich.

5. Close the sandwich: Carefully place the other half of the hollowed-out pickle on top of your fillings, matching it up with the bottom half like a lid. Gently press down to ensure that everything is encased within the pickle bun.

6. Wrap and chill: Wrap your completed pickle sub sandwich snugly in plastic wrap or parchment paper before allowing it to rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This process allows all the flavors to meld together while ensuring that your sub doesn’t become soggy.

7. Serve and enjoy! Unwrap your chilled pickle sub sandwich, slice it into portions if desired, and serve it alongside your favorite chips or side dish. Relish in its tanginess and enjoy a delightful twist on a typical sub!

So there you have it: an easy-to-make, delicious, and unique pickle sub sandwich that will
