Nuisance calls are becoming a prevalent problem that many people face, and it can be frustrating when you receive calls from unwanted people or entities. These calls come in different forms, from telemarketers, scammers, and robocalls. The good news is that you can block a number on your landline phone to prevent these calls from interrupting your life.
Here’s how to do it:

1. Call your service provider

The first step to blocking a number on your landline phone is to call your service provider. Ask them if they offer any blocking services for nuisance calls. Some providers offer this service for free or for a small fee. If they do, ask them how to activate it.

2. Use the call blocking feature

Most modern landline phones have a call blocking feature, which allows you to block calls from specific numbers. To activate this feature, follow the steps in your phone manual. You will usually have to go to the settings menu, select the call blocking option, and then add the number you want to block. You can also unblock numbers if needed.

3. Use a call blocking device

Another option is to use a call blocking device. These devices will screen your calls for you and block numbers that you don’t want to receive calls from. Some of these devices also allow you to block entire categories of calls, such as telemarketers or robocalls.

4. Register for the National Do Not Call Registry

The National Do Not Call Registry is a government-run list that prohibits telemarketers from calling registered numbers. You can register for free at www.donotcall.gov or by calling 1-888-382-1222. Once you sign up, telemarketers are required by law to stop calling you within 31 days.
