The In-Display Fingerprint Scanner on Android smartphones has become increasingly popular in recent years, providing users with a convenient way to unlock their devices. However, sometimes the scanner might stop working, causing inconvenience to the user. If you have encountered the same issue, don’t worry! Here are some fixes that can help you troubleshoot and resolve the In-Display Fingerprint Scanner problem on your Android smartphone.

Clean the Fingerprint Scanner

The first thing you should do when facing fingerprint scanner issues is to clean it. Over time, the scanner might accumulate dust, sweat, or even fingerprints, which can obstruct its functionality. Use a microfiber cloth or cotton bud to clean the scanner, ensuring it is dry and free of debris. In addition, you can use a screen cleaner to clean the display area where the scanner is located.

Delete and Re-Scan Your Fingerprints

Sometimes the scanner might fail to recognize your fingerprints after multiple attempts. In this case, try deleting your registered fingerprints and re-adding them. To delete, go to Settings > Security > Fingerprint, select the registered fingerprint and then tap on delete. To re-scan the fingerprints, follow the instructions given by your smartphone.

Update the Software

Fingerprint scanner issues may sometimes arise due to glitches in the software, and updating the software can fix them. To check if there is an update available, go to Settings > System > System update. If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install it. After this reboot your device and check if the fingerprint scanner is working properly.

Restart Your Device

Sometimes, the quick and straightforward solution is to restart your device. This can help clear any software bugs or memory-related issues that might be causing the fingerprint scanner to malfunction. To restart your device, press and hold the power button for a few seconds and then tap on restart.

Factory Reset Your Phone

If none of the above methods work, you might need to do a factory reset. It is advisable to back up all your data before performing a factory reset. To do this, go to Settings > System > Reset options > Erase all data (factory reset). After the factory reset, set up your device, then try registering your fingerprints again and testing the fingerprint scanner.

In Conclusion

The In-Display Fingerprint Scanner on Android smartphones is an excellent feature that provides a convenient way to unlock your device. However, sometimes issues might arise, causing inconvenience to the user. These fixes will help you troubleshoot and resolve the fingerprint scanner problem on your Android smartphone, and we hope you find them helpful.
