Google Maps is a valuable tool for navigating the world around us, but did you know that it also keeps track of your every move? That’s right, Google Maps stores your location history, allowing you to revisit past trips, see where you’ve been, and find recommendations based on your location. However, some people may not be comfortable with Google Maps knowing and storing their location data. So, in this article, we will guide you on how to view and delete your location history in Google Maps.

Viewing Your Location History

To view your location history, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Open the Google Maps app on your device.

Step 2: Tap on the three-lined menu icon in the top left corner of the screen.

Step 3: Select “Your timeline” from the menu.

Step 4: You will see a calendar on your screen that highlights the days you used Google Maps. Tap on any day to see your location history for that day.

Step 5: You can also use the search tool to find specific dates, places or activities you did by entering keywords.

Deleting Your Location History

If you want to delete your location history, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the Google Maps app on your device.

Step 2: Tap on the three-lined menu icon in the top left corner of the screen.

Step 3: Select “Your timeline” from the menu.

Step 4: Tap on the three dots icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 5: Select “Settings and privacy” from the dropdown menu.

Step 6: Select “Delete all location history” from the options on your screen.

Step 7: Tap on “Delete” to confirm.

Alternatively, you can choose to delete individual locations or days. To do this, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the Google Maps app on your device.

Step 2: Tap on the three-lined menu icon in the top left corner of the screen.

Step 3: Select “Your timeline” from the menu.

Step 4: Tap on any day to see your location history for that day.

Step 5: Tap on the three dots icon in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 6: Select “Delete day” from the dropdown menu.

Step 7: Tap on “Delete” to confirm.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
