Hot corners on a Mac are a convenient feature that can help you streamline your workflow and save time. Essentially, hot corners allow you to perform specific actions by moving your cursor to a designated corner of the screen. This can include things like launching Mission Control or putting your Mac to sleep. In this article, we’ll explore how to set up and use hot corners on a Mac.

Step 1: Open System Preferences

To get started, launch System Preferences on your Mac. You can do this by clicking on the Apple menu in the top-left corner and selecting “System Preferences” from the dropdown menu.

Step 2: Open the “Desktop & Screen Saver” panel

Once you’re in System Preferences, click on “Desktop & Screen Saver.” This will open up a panel with various options for customizing your desktop and screensaver.

Step 3: Click on “Screen Saver”

Within the “Desktop & Screen Saver” panel, you’ll see a row of tabs along the top. Click on “Screen Saver” to access the hot corners settings.

Step 4: Choose a hot corner action

In the “Screen Saver” tab, you’ll see a section labeled “Hot Corners” with a dropdown menu for each corner of the screen. Click on the dropdown for the corner you want to customize, and select the action you want to assign to it.

There are a variety of actions you can choose from, including:

– Launchpad: This will open the Launchpad app, which displays all of the apps installed on your Mac in a grid layout.

– Mission Control: This will open Mission Control, which provides an overview of all the windows and spaces currently open on your Mac.

– Notification Center: This will open the Notification Center, where you can see incoming notifications and widgets.

– Desktop: This will show your desktop by hiding all open windows.

– Start Screen Saver: This will immediately start your selected screensaver.

– Put Display to Sleep: This will turn off your monitor and put it to sleep.

Step 5: Click “OK” to save your changes

Once you’ve selected the action you want to assign to your hot corner, click “OK” to save your changes. You can repeat these steps for each corner of the screen, selecting a different action for each one.

Step 6: Use your hot corners

Now that you’ve set up your hot corners, you can begin using them. Simply move your cursor to the designated corner of the screen, and the assigned action will automatically be triggered.

Hot corners can be a great way to speed up your workflow and make your Mac more efficient. By following these simple steps, you can easily set up and start using hot corners to your advantage.
