How to Turn Off Trending Searches on Google

Google has emerged as a one-stop-shop for all our search-related queries. With the advent of Google trends, the platform has increasingly narrowed down the search results to display only the most popular searches. The trending searches section on Google’s homepage is a catalog of the most searched topics at any given moment.

However, for some users, this feature can be overwhelming or distracting, and they may want to disable it. Turning off trending searches on Google is a simple and straightforward process.

Here is how you can take the steps to turn off trending searches on Google:

Step 1: Open your web browser

You can use any web browser of your choice to access Google. Whether you are using Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or any other browser, the steps to turn off trending searches on Google are the same.

Step 2: Visit “Google.com”

Visit Google’s homepage by typing “Google.com” into your browser’s search bar.

Step 3: Click on the “Settings” icon

On the bottom right corner of the Google homepage, you’ll see a small “Settings” icon with a gear. Click on the icon, and a dropdown menu will appear.

Step 4: Select “Search settings”

From the dropdown menu, click on “Search settings.” This will redirect you to the Google search settings page.

Step 5: Turn off the “Autocomplete predictions” feature

On the search settings page, locate the “Autocomplete predictions” feature and uncheck the box next to it. This will disable the trending searches feature from the Google search bar.

Step 6: Save your settings

After you have turned off the “Autocomplete predictions” feature, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click on the “Save” button. This will save your preferences and disable trending searches on Google.

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject.
