Roku is a popular streaming device that provides millions of hours of entertainment to its users. This device is easy to use and offers various features to make streaming even more enjoyable. However, some Roku users may find that a Narrator continuously speaks while they navigate through the device.

The Narrator on Roku can sometimes be helpful for visually impaired people, but for most users, it can become an unnecessary and at times irritating feature. So, if you want to turn off the Narrator on your Roku, then here is a guide to help you out.

Step 1: Access the Roku Home screen

The first step is to access the Roku Home screen by pressing the Home button on your remote. This button looks like a house and is located at the center of the remote.

Step 2: Go to Accessibility settings
Once you are on the Home screen, use the arrow buttons on your remote to navigate to the left side of the screen. From there, select the “Settings” option, then “Accessibility.”

Step 3: Turn off the Narrator

On the Accessibility menu, scroll down and select the “Audio Guide” option. From there, you should see an option titled “Audio Guide.” Select that, and you will have the option to turn off the Narrator.

Step 4: Confirm your choice

After selecting to turn off the Narrator, your Roku device will prompt you to confirm your choice. Select the “Turn Off” option, and the Narrator on your Roku device will be disabled.

In conclusion, the Narrator on Roku can be useful for some users, but more often than not, it is a rather irritating feature. If you’re looking to remove this option for good, following this step-by-step guide should do the trick. Hopefully, this guide has been helpful in assisting you to turn off the Narrator on your Roku to enhance your streaming experience.

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
