How to Take a Break From Being Facebook Friends With Someone
In today’s digital era, social media has become an integral part of our lives. We use it to connect with our friends, family, and colleagues. However, sometimes we may want to take a break from being Facebook friends with someone. This could be due to a multitude of reasons such as personal differences, privacy concerns or simply needing a social media detox. In this article, we will discuss how you can take a break from being Facebook friends with someone without causing any offense.
1. Unfollow Instead of Unfriend
One way to distance yourself from someone on Facebook is to unfollow them instead of unfriending them. This means that you will no longer see their posts in your feed, but you will still be Facebook friends. This can be a subtle way of taking a break from someone without causing any drama.
To unfollow someone on Facebook, go to their profile page and click on the “Following” button. Then select “Unfollow” from the dropdown menu. You can always reverse this process if you change your mind.
2. Use Facebook’s Snooze Feature
Facebook’s snooze feature allows you to take a temporary break from seeing someone’s posts. You can choose to snooze someone for 30 days, and during this time, you won’t see any of their posts, but you will still be Facebook friends.
To use this feature, go to the person’s profile, click on the “Following” button and select “Snooze.” This feature is great for people you want to distance yourself from temporarily, but don’t necessarily want to unfollow or unfriend.
3. Unfriend Them
If you’ve tried unfollowing or snoozing someone, and it’s not working, then the next step is to unfriend them. Unfriending someone means that you are no longer Facebook friends, and they won’t be able to see your profile or posts.
To unfriend someone on Facebook, go to their profile page, click on the three dots in the bottom right-hand corner, and select “Unfriend.” Keep in mind that unfriending someone may cause some drama, so do it with care.
4. Block Them
Blocking someone on Facebook is the most extreme measure you can take, and it should only be done if someone is harassing you or causing you mental distress. When you block someone on Facebook, they won’t be able to see your profile or posts, and they won’t be able to contact you.
To block someone, go to their profile page, click on the three dots in the bottom right-hand corner, and select “Block.” Keep in mind that once you block someone, you can’t undo it. They won’t be able to see that you’ve blocked them, but they may notice that they can’t see your profile or posts.
