As Facebook continues to push its TikTok-like feature, Reels, some users are finding themselves overwhelmed with the amount of Reels content appearing in their feed. If you’re one of those users, fear not – there are ways to stop seeing Reels on Facebook.

Here are some steps you can follow:

1. Hide Reels from your News Feed

To hide Reels from your News Feed, click the three-dot icon on the top-right corner of a Reel and select “Hide Reel”. You’ll then be given the option to “Hide all reels from [the user]” or “Hide all reels on Facebook”.
By selecting the latter option, you won’t see Reels anymore on your News Feed.

2. Unfollow Accounts that Post Reels

If you’re only seeing Reels from certain accounts, you can choose to unfollow them. To do this, go to the account’s page, click the three-dot icon on the top-right corner, and select “Unfollow”.

This way, you’ll still be friends with the user and can view their posts if you want to, but Reels won’t appear in your News Feed.

3. Adjust your News Feed Preferences

Another option is to adjust your News Feed preferences. To do this, click the three-line icon on the bottom-right corner on your Facebook app and scroll down to “Settings & Privacy”.

From there, click on “News Feed Preferences”, select “Manage News Feed” and then click “Reconnect with people and groups you unfollowed”.

Here, you’ll find a list of accounts you’ve unfollowed in the past. You can choose to follow them again or permanently unfollow them.

4. Use Browser Extensions

If you’re using a browser like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, you can use browser extensions to block Reels from appearing on Facebook.

For example, “FB Purity” is an extension that allows you to customize your News Feed by hiding specific posts or types of content, including Reels.

5. Opt-Out of Reels on Facebook

If none of the above solutions work for you, you can opt-out of Facebook’s Reels feature entirely. Unfortunately, this means you won’t be able to create or share Reels yourself either.

To opt-out, go to the three-line icon on the bottom-right corner of your Facebook app and select “Settings & Privacy”. From there, click on “Settings” and go to “Videos and Photos”. Here, you’ll find a toggle switch to turn off Reels entirely.
