Google Play Services is an essential component of the Android operating system that helps in updating Google apps and other installed apps on your device. However, it’s also notorious for draining your battery, especially when you’re not using your smartphone or tablet. If you’re tired of charging your device multiple times a day, here are some tips on how to stop Google Play Services from draining your battery.

1. Use Battery Saver mode

The easiest way to prevent Google Play Services from draining your battery is by using Battery Saver mode. This feature limits background activity, turns off location services, and reduces performance to extend your battery life. To enable Battery Saver mode, go to Settings > Battery > Battery saver.

2. Disable location services

Location services are usually one of the main culprits behind high battery drain. Google Play Services uses your device’s GPS to determine your location, which can consume a lot of battery power. You can prevent this by disabling location services, which will also reduce the amount of data that Google Play Services consumes. To do so, go to Settings > Location > Google Location Accuracy and turn off Wi-Fi scanning, Bluetooth scanning, and Google Location History.

3. Clear Google Play Services cache and data

Sometimes, Google Play Services can accumulate a large amount of cache and data, which can slow down your device and cause battery drain. You can fix this problem by clearing the cache and data of Google Play Services. To do so, go to Settings > Apps > Google Play Services > Storage > Clear cache/data.

4. Check for updates

One of the reasons why Google Play Services can drain your battery is due to outdated software. Every update that Google releases for its apps includes bug fixes and performance improvements that can help reduce battery consumption. Therefore, it’s essential to check for updates regularly. To do so, go to Google Play Store > My apps and games > Update all or update individual apps.

5. Use Greenify

Greenify is an app that helps you identify and hibernate apps that are running in the background and consuming battery power. Greenify automatically detects apps that are running in the background, and you can choose to hibernate them manually or automatically. Using Greenify can significantly improve your device’s battery life, including Google Play Services. You can download Greenify from Google Play Store.

In conclusion, Google Play Services is an essential component of the Android operating system, but it can also drain your battery if you’re not careful. By following these tips, you can prevent Google Play Services from consuming too much battery power and prolong your device’s battery life.
