How to Screen Share on Skype: 7 Steps
Screen sharing on Skype is an excellent tool that helps users share their screens, display presentations, or even play games together. This feature allows for a more collaborative and interactive approach to online communication, perfect for business meetings, social gatherings, and remote learning. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to share your screen on Skype:
1. Download and install Skype
To use the screen-sharing feature, you’ll need to have Skype installed on your computer or mobile device. Download the latest version from the official Skype website (www.skype.com) and follow the installation instructions.
2. Sign in/Create an account
Once installed, open Skype, and sign in with your Microsoft account. If you don’t have an account yet, click “Create one” and follow the prompts to set up a new account.
3. Start a call
To share your screen, you first need to be in a call with one or more contacts. Click on the “New Call” button or select a contact from your list and click the “Call” icon at the top right corner of the window.
4. Access the screen sharing option
When in a call, you’ll see various icons at the bottom of the call window (e.g., microphone, camera). Look for an icon that looks like two overlapping rectangles (or a monitor with an arrow for older versions). This is the screen sharing button.
5. Click on Share Screen
Click on the screen-sharing icon to initiate the process. A new window will appear displaying all open applications and screens available for sharing.
6. Select your screen or application
Choose which screen or application you want to share by clicking on it. You can opt to share your entire desktop or only specific windows/applications currently open.
7. Start Screen Sharing
After selecting what you want to share, click “Share Screen” (or “Start” for older versions) at the bottom of the window. Your screen will then be shared with the participants in the call.
Your screen sharing session will continue until you decide to stop it. To end the screen sharing, click on the same icon used to start it (now a red box or monitor) and choose “Stop Sharing.”
And that’s it – you’ve successfully shared your screen on Skype! Now you can collaborate seamlessly with friends, family, or colleagues while enhancing communication and productivity.
