The Microsoft Surface line of devices includes a variety of laptops and tablets, such as the Surface Pro, Surface Go, Surface Laptop, and Surface Book. Over time, you may find that your device slows down, experiences glitches, or needs to be reset to its original factory settings. In this article, we will walk you through how to reset your Surface device.

Step One: Back up Your Data

Before resetting your Surface device, it is important to back up all of your data. This will ensure that you do not lose any important files or documents when you reset your device. You can use an external hard drive, cloud storage service, or backup software to save your files to a secure location.

Step Two: Reset Your Surface Device

Once you have backed up your data, you are ready to reset your Surface device. The process for resetting your device varies depending on the model you have.

For the Surface Pro and Surface Go:
1. Press and hold the volume up button and the power button at the same time for 15 seconds.

2. When the Surface logo appears, release both buttons.3. Wait for the device to restart and the reset process to begin.

For the Surface Laptop and Surface Book:
1. Shut down your device by holding down the power button for 10 seconds.

2. Press and hold the volume up button and the power button at the same time.

3. Release the power button but continue holding the volume up button until the “Surface UEFI” screen appears.

4. Use the arrow keys to select “Troubleshoot” and then “Reset this PC”.

5. Choose whether to keep your files or remove everything and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the reset process.

Step Three: Reinstall Your Programs and Apps

After your Surface device has been reset, you will need to reinstall your programs and apps. This will ensure that you can continue to work and use your device as normal. Depending on the programs and apps you use, this may take some time, but it is important to do so to ensure that you have everything you need to continue working.

In conclusion, resetting your Surface device can help solve problems and restore it to its original factory settings. By backing up your data and following the right steps, you can reset your Surface quickly and safely. If you experience any issues during the process, you can always reach out to Microsoft support for assistance.
