Quoting a tweet is a way to share someone else’s post while adding your own thoughts, opinions, or commentary. This feature allows you to engage with the original tweet and start a conversation with the originator as well as your followers. Here are seven easy steps to guide you through the process of quoting a tweet:

1. Find the tweet: Begin by finding the specific tweet you want to quote. You can do this by browsing your Twitter feed, visiting a user’s profile, or searching for keywords using Twitter’s search function.

2. Click on the retweet icon: Once you’ve located the tweet, click on the retweet icon (two arrows forming a square) located beneath the tweet near the reply, like, and share icons.

3. Choose “Quote Tweet”: After clicking on the retweet icon, a new window will pop up with two options: “Retweet” and “Quote Tweet.” To add your own commentary, select “Quote Tweet.”

4. Add your comment: Now that you’ve chosen “Quote Tweet,” you’ll see the original tweet in a new pop-up window with a text box above it. Type your thoughts or comments regarding the original tweet in this text box.

5. Use proper attribution: If possible, mention the original tweeter using their Twitter handle (@username) as a sign of respect and acknowledgment of their work. This helps them gain visibility from your quote and potentially acquire new followers.

6. Use relevant hashtags: To make your quote more discoverable and amplify its reach, include relevant hashtags in your comment. This makes it easier for users searching for related topics to find your quoted tweet.

7. Post your quote: When you’re satisfied with your commentary and have included all necessary attributions and hashtags, click on the ‘Tweet’ button below the text box to share it with your followers.

And there you have it – quoting a tweet in seven easy steps! By engaging with other users through quoting tweets, you can partake in meaningful conversations, share knowledge, and gain valuable insights from the Twitter community. Happy tweeting!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech. We hope to provide a well-rounded, multi-faceted look at the past, present, the future of EdTech in the US and internationally.

We started this journey back in June 2016, and we plan to continue it for many more years to come. I hope that you will join us in this discussion of the past, present and future of EdTech and lend your own insight to the issues that are discussed.
