Step 1: Choose the Right Location
Find a spot in your garden with well-draining soil, where your Easter Lilies will receive at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day.
Step 2: Prepare the Soil
Loosen the soil to a depth of 12 to 15 inches and add organic matter, such as compost or well-aged manure, to improve soil fertility.
Step 3: Purchase Healthy Bulbs
Select firm, plump bulbs that are free of signs of disease or damage, with a strong healthy root system.
Step 4: Plant at the Right Time
Plant Easter Lily bulbs in the fall, typically from September to October, allowing them enough time to establish roots before winter arrives.
Step 5: Dig a Hole
Dig a hole about 4-6 inches deep and twice as wide as the bulb. Create a small mound in the bottom of the hole for proper root development.
Step 6: Place the Bulb
Set the bulb on top of the mound with its roots spread out evenly and its pointed end facing upward.
Step 7: Fill In
Cover the bulb with soil and gently press down to eliminate any air pockets that may be present.
Step 8: Water Thoroughly
Water the newly planted bulbs generously to help settle the soil around them.
Step 9: Mulch
After planting, apply a layer of mulch about 2-3 inches thick to help insulate the soil, retain moisture, and suppress weed growth.
Step 10: Monitor Growth
Keep an eye on your Easter Lilies’ progress and look out for any signs of pests or diseases. Remove any discolored or damaged leaves as necessary.
Step 11: Fertilize Properly
In early spring, feed your Easter Lilies with a slow-release or balanced fertilizer to promote strong growth and abundant blooms
Step 12: Provide Support
Easter Lilies can grow quite tall, so provide them with adequate support by staking if necessary.
Step 13: Enjoy the Blooms
Easter Lilies typically bloom between June and July. Enjoy their gorgeous, fragrant flowers and take pride in your successful planting!
