Cube steak is a versatile, budget-friendly cut of meat that can be cooked in various ways, creating delicious and tender results. Whether you prefer to grill, fry, or slow cook your cube steak, there are several cooking methods that will leave you with a flavorful dish. In this article, we’re going to explore three ways you can cook cube steak for a satisfying meal.

1. Grilled Cube Steak

Grilling is an excellent method for achieving a smoky flavor and perfect char on your cube steak.

Ingredients:

– Cube steaks

– Olive oil

– Salt and pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Brush each side of the cube steaks with a light coat of olive oil.
  3. Season both sides of the steaks with salt and pepper.
  4. Place the steaks on the preheated grill. Close the lid and cook for 4-5 minutes per side or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  5. Remove from the grill, allow the steaks to rest for 3-4 minutes before serving to let the juices redistribute.

2. Pan-Fried Cube Steak

Pan-frying is a quick and easy way to cook cube steaks while achieving a golden-brown crust.

Ingredients:

– Cube steaks

– Flour

– Salt and pepper

– Cooking oil

Instructions:

  1. Season both sides of the cube steaks with salt and pepper.
  2. Dredge the seasoned cube steaks in flour, shaking off any excess.
  3. Heat cooking oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Place the floured cube steaks in the hot skillet and fry for 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Remove from skillet onto a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil before serving.

3. Slow Cooker Cube Steak

Utilizing a slow cooker provides an easy, hands-off method of cooking cube steak, ensuring tender and moist results.

Ingredients:

– Cube steaks

– Cream of mushroom soup

– Onion soup mix

– Water or beef broth

– Salt and pepper

Instructions:

  1. Season both sides of the cube steaks with salt and pepper.
  2. In a slow cooker, combine cream of mushroom soup, onion soup mix, and water or beef broth.
  3. Add the seasoned cube steaks to the slow cooker, ensuring they are submerged in the liquid.
  4. Cook on low setting for 5-6 hours or high setting for 3-4 hours until cube steaks are tender and cooked through.
  5. Remove from slow cooker, serve over mashed potatoes or rice to accompany the flavorful gravy.

In conclusion, there are several methods available to cook your cube steak that will result in a delicious and satisfying meal. Regardless of which technique you choose – grilling, frying or slow cooking – you’ll end up with a dish that showcases this versatile cut of meat’s potential.
