How to Permanently Delete Twitter: The 5 Steps You’ll Need to Take

Are you ready to say goodbye to your Twitter account and permanently delete it? Whether you’ve grown tired of the platform or simply need a fresh start, it’s essential to follow these five steps to ensure that you properly remove your Twitter presence.

Step 1: Deactivate your account

Before permanently deleting your Twitter account, you’ll need to deactivate it. To do this, log in to your account on the Twitter website or app. Go to the “Settings and privacy” menu by clicking on your profile icon, then navigate to the “Account” tab. At the bottom of the page, click on “Deactivate your account.” Read the information provided about what deactivation means and click on “Deactivate.”

Step 2: Confirm your password

After clicking the “Deactivate” button, you’ll be prompted to enter your password. Make sure you input the correct password associated with your account and hit “Confirm” afterward. This will initiate a 30-day deactivation period during which time your data remains on Twitter’s servers.

Step 3: Maintain a hands-off approach for 30 days

Once you’ve deactivated your account, it’s crucial not to log back in or make any changes for 30 days. If you do so, it will cancel the deletion process and reactivate your profile. During this period, allow Twitter ample time to thoroughly remove all traces of your data.

Step 4: Confirm your email or phone number is disassociated from the account

Before your Twitter account is permanently deleted, ensure that any associated email addresses or phone numbers are not linked with other accounts or profiles on the platform. Double-check these settings in your email inbox and phone settings.

Step 5: Keep an eye on potential impersonators

Following the successful deletion of your Twitter account, keep an eye out for potential impersonators or unauthorized users attempting to claim your old username. If you notice someone doing so, report the issue to Twitter’s support team immediately.

In conclusion, permanently deleting your Twitter account requires patience and diligence. By following these five steps, you will successfully and thoroughly remove your presence from the platform. Remember that patience is key – give the deactivation process time to run its course before expecting complete disappearance of your account.
