How to Pause or End Workout on Your Apple Watch
Pausing or ending a workout on your Apple Watch can be essential for accurate activity tracking. Whether you need a break or you’re done with your exercise, following these steps will ensure your activity data is precisely recorded.
Pausing a Workout:
- Raise your wrist to wake the Apple Watch during your workout.
- On the screen showing your workout metrics, swipe right. You can do this either during a running workout session or while in any other type of workout mode.
- Look for the pause button, which usually looks like two vertical lines similar to a pause symbol on media players.
- Tap the pause button to pause your workout. Your Apple Watch will freeze the tracking of your workout until you resume.
- To continue, simply press the resume button, often depicted as a circular arrow, when you’re ready to get going again.
Ending a Workout:
- Like pausing a workout, raise your wrist or tap the screen to activate your Apple Watch display while in an active workout.
- Swipe right to access controls specific to your workout session.
- This time, look for a red button with an “X” that indicates “End” or sometimes it may show the word “End.”
- Tap this button to finish and record your workout session.
- After stopping a workout, you’ll often be prompted to swipe right in order to save or discard the workout if it was under a certain duration. Make sure you save it if you want it recorded in the Activity app.
- Following this, you may be given an opportunity to fill in details about the workout such as weather conditions, or just how you felt overall – providing more data for better overall fitness tracking on Apple’s Health platform.
Remember that regular workouts contribute to closing the Activity rings on your Apple Watch and help keep track of personal fitness trends over time, giving you insights into improvements in endurance or strength and potential areas for further development.
