How to Enable or Disable Apple Music Animated Cover Art

Apple Music has a visually engaging feature that can make your music browsing experience a delight — animated cover art. Introduced in newer versions of the platform, these moving artworks add a dynamic touch as you scroll through the available tracks. However, not everyone finds this appealing or necessary. Whether it’s to enhance your experience or to avoid distractions, here’s how to enable or disable the animated cover art in Apple Music:

How to Enable Animated Cover Art in Apple Music:

  1. Open the Apple Music app on your iOS device.
  2. Navigate to Settings by tapping on the gear icon.
  3. Scroll down and find the Music section.
  4. Look for an option that says “Motion” or “Animated Cover Art” (the terminology may differ depending on your iOS version).
  5. Toggle the switch on to enable animated artwork.

After you’ve enabled this feature, go back to Apple Music and browse through albums; you should now see the covers come alive where available.

How to Disable Animated Cover Art in Apple Music:

  1. Access Apple Music, and once again, reach for the Settings via the gear-shaped icon.
  2. Scroll to locate the Music section within your settings.
  3. Search for the “Motion” or “Animated Cover Art” option.
  4. Simply toggle the switch off to disable the animations.

This action will stop album covers from animating as you scroll through Apple Music, which could save on data and potentially battery life.

Please note that availability of animated cover art depends heavily on your device model, iOS version, and possibly even geographic location as some features are rolled out regionally. If you cannot find this setting, make sure your operating system and app are updated to the latest versions.

Enjoy customizing your Apple Music experience!

About Us

Since technology is not going anywhere and does more good than harm, adapting is the best course of action. That is where The Tech Edvocate comes in. We plan to cover the PreK-12 and Higher Education EdTech sectors and provide our readers with the latest news and opinion on the subject. From time to time, I will invite other voices to weigh in on important issues in EdTech.
