Have you ever needed to find the MAC address on your Windows PC, but didn’t know where to look? MAC (Media Access Control) address is a unique identifier assigned to network devices that allows them to communicate on a network. Knowing your device’s MAC address is important for troubleshooting network issues and for secure network configurations as it prevents unauthorized access to your network. In this article, we will explain how to look up the MAC address on your Windows PC.

Method 1: Using Command Prompt

One way to find your MAC address is to use the Command Prompt. Here are the steps:

1. Open Command Prompt: Click on the “Start” button and type “cmd” in the search box. Then, click on the Command Prompt app to open it.

2. Type “ipconfig/all” and hit Enter. This will display the IP configuration of your network adapters.

3. Look for the Physical Address: Next, look for “Physical Address” in the list of network adapters. This is your MAC address, which should be displayed in the format of six groups of two hexadecimal digits separated by hyphens.

Method 2: Using Network Connections

Another way to find your MAC address is through Network Connections. Here’s how:

1. Open Network Connections: Click on the “Start” button and type “Network Connections” in the search box. Then, click on the “View network connections” option to open it.

2. Select the connection: Locate the network adapter for which you’d like to find the MAC address. Then, right-click on it and select “Status”.

3. Find the MAC address: In the Status window, click on the “Details” button. Here you will find the MAC address listed as “Physical Address” in the format of six groups of two hexadecimal digits separated by hyphens.

In conclusion, finding the MAC address on your Windows PC is an important step for securing your network and troubleshooting network issues. You can easily find your MAC address by using Command Prompt or Network Connections. Hopefully, this guide has helped you find your MAC address with ease.
