How to Install Microsoft OneDrive on Ubuntu
Microsoft OneDrive is a cloud storage and file sharing service that can be used on various operating systems, including Linux. If you are an Ubuntu user looking to take advantage of OneDrive, here is a guide to help you install OneDrive on your Ubuntu machine.
Step 1: Update your Ubuntu System
Before you can install OneDrive on your system, you need to ensure that your Ubuntu operating system is up-to-date. You can do this by running the following command in your terminal:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
This command will update all the software packages on your system, including the necessary ones for installing OneDrive.
Step 2: Install OneDrive Dependencies
The next step is to install the dependencies required for OneDrive. You can do this by running the following command in your terminal:
sudo apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev libsqlite3-dev git make
This command will install the necessary libraries and packages required to install OneDrive.
Step 3: Download and Install OneDrive
Once you have installed the dependencies, you need to download OneDrive from Microsoft’s GitHub repository. You can do this by running the following commands:
git clone https://github.com/abraunegg/onedrive.git
cd onedrive/
make
This will download the OneDrive repository and install it on your system.
Step 4: Authorize OneDrive
The next step is to authorize OneDrive to access your Microsoft account. You can do this by running the following command in your terminal:
./onedrive
This will open a browser window that prompts you to sign in to your Microsoft account. After signing in, you will be asked to grant access to OneDrive. Confirm the access to proceed.
Step 5: Sync Files
Now that OneDrive is installed and authorized, you can start synchronizing your files. You can do this by running the following command:
onedrive –synchronize
This will start the file synchronization process between your Ubuntu machine and OneDrive.
