How to Install a Kill Switch On Any Car
A kill switch is an effective anti-theft device that can be installed on any car. It is a simple device that interrupts the power supply to the engine, making it impossible for the car to start. In this article, we will guide you on how to install a kill switch on any car.
Step 1: Determine the location of the kill switch
Before you start installing the kill switch, you need to determine where you are going to install it. Ideally, the kill switch should be located in an inconspicuous place, where it is difficult for a thief to find. Some popular locations include under the dashboard, under the seat, or inside the center console.
Step 2: Disconnect the battery
Before you start the installation process, ensure that you disconnect the battery from the car. This will prevent any electrical accidents from occurring during the installation process.
Step 3: Find the ignition wire
The ignition wire is the wire that powers the car’s ignition system. To find the ignition wire, refer to the car’s manual or use a wiring diagram. Once you have located the ignition wire, strip back the protective casing to expose the wire.
Step 4: Splice the kill switch into the ignition wire
Using wire cutters, cut the ignition wire in two. Then, take the two ends of the cut wire and splice them into the kill switch. Make sure that you connect the ignition wire to the kill switch in such a way that when the switch is turned off, there is no electrical connection between the two ends of the ignition wire.
Step 5: Test the kill switch
Once you have completed the installation process, it is essential to test the kill switch to ensure that it is functioning correctly. Re-connect the car’s battery and attempt to start the engine. The engine should not start as long as the kill switch is turned off. Test the kill switch a few times to make sure that it is working correctly.
