How to Enable and Use Voice Isolation on iPhone

Voice isolation is a feature available on iOS that improves call quality by using machine learning to block out ambient noise and focus on your voice. This can be particularly useful in noisy environments, helping the person on the other end of the call hear you more clearly. Follow these steps to enable and use voice isolation on an iPhone.

How to Enable Voice Isolation on iPhone:

  1. Make sure your iPhone is running on the latest version of iOS to ensure you have access to the latest features, including voice isolation.
  2. Begin a phone call or a FaceTime call in the usual manner.
  3. Once the call is connected, access the Control Center by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen (or up from the bottom of the screen for models with a Home button).
  4. Look for the Mic Mode control option, which is found in the top-right area of the Control Center on iOS 15 and later.
  5. Tap on Mic Mode, and a selection menu will appear with options such as “Standard,” “Voice Isolation,” and “Wide Spectrum.”
  6. Select “Voice Isolation” to enable this feature for your current call.

Additionally, some third-party apps support voice isolation during audio and video calls. If you’re using an app like Zoom or WhatsApp, you may find similar options within the app’s audio settings or control panel during a call.

Using Voice Isolation:

– Voice isolation can be used during any voice or video call. However, note that not all devices or calls may support this feature.

– It’s ideal for times when you are in a busy street, cafe, airport lounge, or any place with significant background noise.

Remember that enabling this feature may affect battery usage slightly more than a normal call due to the processing required to isolate your voice from background noises. With these simple steps, voice isolation can help make your calls clearer in just about any environment where there’s unwanted background sound.
