As a modern presentation tool, Google Slides is one of the most popular applications utilized by students, professionals, and businesses alike. From designing a compelling sales pitch to delivering an excellent online classroom presentation, Google Slides has all the features that can help you create an impactful and effective presentation.

One of the formatting needs in a presentation is a hanging indent. A hanging indent is a style of indentation where the second and subsequent lines of a paragraph are indented more than the first line. It is commonly used in bibliographies, references, and citations, and other such lists. In Google Slides, a hanging indent can be created with just a few simple steps.

Step 1: Highlight The Paragraph or Text You Want To Indent

It is crucial to highlight the paragraph or text you want to indent. You can do this by clicking the left mouse button and dragging it over the desired text to highlight it.

Step 2: Open the Format Menu

In the toolbar options, click on the ‘Format’ option.

Step 3: Click on the Paragraph-style option

After selecting the ‘Format’ option, it will display you various formatting options. Look for the ‘Paragraph styles’ option, hover over it and click on the ‘Normal text’ option.

Step 4: Choose the Indentation Style

Under the ‘Paragraph styles’ option, click on the ‘Indention Options.’ menu. A new window will appear with a few formatting options. Under ‘Special indents,’ select the ‘Hanging’ option.

Step 5: Adjust Your Indentation

Once you have selected the ‘Hanging’ option, adjust the width of the hanging indent by dragging the slider or entering the desired indentation value in the box.

Step 6: Preview Your Indentation

To preview the hanging indentation, click on the ‘Apply’ button. You can see the changes in the selected paragraph where the first line moves to the left, and the subsequent lines are indented towards the right.

Step 7: Save Your Changes

Finally, after previewing the indentation, click on the ‘Done’ button to apply the changes to your Google Slides presentation. Your hanging indent is now ready!

In conclusion, these simple steps demonstrate how to do a hanging indent in Google Slides. Users must ensure that they have selected the appropriate paragraph or text before applying changes to avoid formatting errors. This formatting style adds a professional look to the document and assists in differentiating one paragraph or line from another, making it easier to read and understand. With Google Slides, creating high-quality presentations is easier and efficient.
